Interactives

Cinnabar has designed and built hundreds of innovative interactives, from simple flip panels, sliders and puzzles to electro-mechanical systems, to touch screens and Wii-style multimedia experiences. Our goal is to encourage visitors to stop and play instead of pushing a button and walking away. Simply put, our interactives are intuitive and engaging while also made to last.

We believe that physical engagement- hands-on- is an essential part of a fully immersive audience experience: visitors –especially children– discover and learn while moving their arms, their legs, or their whole bodies. Successful multi-user, multi-sensory interactives capture the imagination and attention of audiences both young and old, encouraging an active physical, emotional and intellectual participation in the process of discovery and learning.

Simple, elegant and well-built physical interactives can sometimes tell a story better and more viscerally than any didactic museum experience. Plus, a successful physical interactive is timeless. At Cinnabar, we have become experts at taking concepts such as the water cycle or bio-diversity corridors and translating them into interactive puzzles that convey the message in a clever and intuitive way.

Every single one of our flagship museum projects has included incredibly complex A/V integration with media components. We have the technical know-how and problem solving ability to oversee the development, testing and production of interactives that seamlessly integrate sophisticated technology. Our interactive multi-media pieces for the California Academy of Sciences, the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County and the Discovery Science Center in Santa Ana, among others, continue to function virtually as new despite thousands of hours of use and abuse.
